Back in the day when we had an antenna on the roof to receive television programming (on all two channels), I recall a phrase occasionally popping up: “Do not adjust your set.” Something was going on with the broadcast and they were working on it was the message.
Well, a couple of weeks ago we at Proclaim and Defend suffered something called an SEO attack. Our user stats shot up (all “visits” to our home page, nothing else) and later we found that some users (us included) were ending up on an Indonesian site when we typed in our address. It turns out someone hacked an admin account and installed a plugin that redirected users to the fake site as a way to boost the numbers of the site in Indonesia.
We have changed all our passwords, removed the malicious plugin, and cleaned up the mess that was left behind. Thankfully nothing worse happened — we think we are completely repaired now.
However, some users are still experiencing the redirect. If they access us through a link from Facebook, they get to the right pages but get redirected if they have saved a bookmark.
We recommend that you clear the cache on your browser if you are experiencing this problem. As our headline says, “Please DO adjust your set.” We are sorry for the inconvenience, but believe our site is back under our control at this point.
