Evangelist Dave Sproul in Heaven
Earlier today Evangelist Dave Sproul entered heaven’s gates.
He is the father of FBFI Chaplain Mike Sproul. Mike also serves as the senior pastor of Littleton Baptist Church in Littleton, Colorado.
Dr. Sproul served as an evangelistr from the late 1950’s until fairly recently. As an evangelist he saw thousands of people profess Christ as Savior. He became the first General Director of International Baptist Missions in 1980 and continued in that role for 30 years. He had a passion for missions worldwide–especially for India and took numerous trips to encourage missionaries and hold evangelistic meetings there.
Dr. Sproul held a bachelor’s degree from Bob Jones University, an M. Div. from San Francisco Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary. He was a careful theologian, an fruitful evangelist, and a committed biblical fundamentalist.
Dr. Sproul was a steadfast friend and member of the FBFI. He attended every annual fellowship from the mid-1960’s until his health no longer allowed him in the mid 2010’s. During that span he might have attended more annual fellowships than any other FBFI member.
Dr. Sproul mentored many young men into ministry in his leadership role at International Baptist College and with Tri-City Baptist Church in Chandler Arizona. He is one of those servants of the Lord who received fairly little public acclaim during his life in spite of his wide-spread and enduring accomplishments for the work of the Lord. The impact of his service is presently seen world-wide in thousands of churches and tens of thousands of lives.
Because of my childhood friendship with Mike Sproul, I had the privilege of being mentored by Dave Sproul from my teen years and throughout my adult ministry. He taught me a careful and balanced view of biblical fundamentalism. He has had a profound impact upon who I am in ministry today.
We will miss him greatly. May God bless his wife Kay, his children Mike, Nathan, and Marea, and the rest of his family as they both mourn and rejoice in his passing.

Bro Dave Sproul had a huge part to play in my becoming a full time Australian independent Baptist evangelist over 30 years ago. As a young man in Bible college in Australian, Bro Sproul invested time in my life and ministry. I spent time with him on several occasions during trips to the USA. He was always so happy to keep investing in the life of this preacher and even when I phoned him, he was delighted to speak to me.
We thank God for his life and ministry and look forward to meeting again in glory.
In Christ Jesus,
