Believing Evangelism – 2022 Annual FBFI Fellowship
We are in Greenville, SC, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church for the annual FBFI Fellowship meeting. We enjoyed a tremendous opening service, with great music and good fellowship. So many good friends from years of ministry are gathered at this meeting, and there are new ones to meet as well. This meeting is a highlight of the FBFI calendar and one of the ministries we use to encourage one another and promote our message in today’s world.
Dr. Wayne Van Gelderen delivered tonight’s message. The topic was “Believing Evangelism,” from Mark 5.1-11. It was a simple direct message that challenged the heart of us all.
What is believing evangelism? Believing Evangelism simply is the notion that we believe what God says about the gospel, and then we do it.
Do you believe the gospel is the power to save men from sin?
Do you believe the promise of God to save those who hear the gospel?
Do you believe that anyone can be saved? That includes Buddhists, Muslims, liberal churchmen, the “religious nones” of the pollsters, or even the “wokesters” of our day. Do you really believe God can save such people?
If yes, then what are you doing about it?
Dr. Van Gelderen discussed simple obstacles to evangelism, “Flesh dependence,” “Lack of obedience to God’s word,” and “Unbelief in God’s promises.” Are these obstacles to your evangelistic efforts? They certainly are for me.
I agree with Dr. Van Gelderen that we live in a day of unprecedented opportunity. The last two years hit the soul of our people hard. Many are still hurting and fearful. We have hope to offer. We need to offer it.
In the text for tonight’s message, the disciples were amazed at the power of God in Jesus Christ. He promised that same power to his evangelists. Do you believe it?
If yes, let’s get out and do it and see what God will do. Let’s believe our Lord and ask him to help our unbelief.
The whole message was much more than this, we will link to media once we have it available. You will find it profitable. In the meantime, my brief summary might stir up your faith and get you out once again in the Lord’s service.
After a long day of travel, the service and message capped my day off, so I’ll sign off and get some rest. Two days remain, so if you are in driving distance, I encourage you to attend if you can. If you make it, be sure to look me up. I’m the one with a bow tie!
