Are You Ready?
By all indications, the Supreme Court of the United States will soon overturn Roe v. Wade. This means that each state must grapple with the issue of abortion. Since our constitutional republic is “of the people, by the people and for the people” are you prepared to discuss this issue with your friends, neighbors and governmental representatives?
Recent articles have pointed to a change in stance by Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers. They no longer wish to be called “pro-choice;” they now wish to be called “pro-abortion” (see here). As we documented in a previous blog post (“Glory vs. Shame”), this has been the position of the pro-abortionists all along. Formerly, some state legislatures could shirk their responsibility to address this slaughter of the innocents, under the cover of Roe v. Wade. But no longer. Check the map of the states that allow abortion vs. those who restrict it to some degree. As you can see, there is much work to do. Children have the God-given right to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” as stated in our Declaration of Independence.
At creation, mankind was crowned with glory and honor (Psalm 8 and Hebrews 2:6-8). But under the protection of Roe v. Wade, our once majestic country has become casually murderous. Just remember the horrors of people like Kermit Gosnell who routinely destroyed human beings for three decades in Philadelphia. Remember the words of Proverbs 14:34, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” Amid the uproar that will undoubtedly come from this court decision, you need to be prepared to give answers to hurting people.
Many pro-life groups are preparing their arguments for the upcoming debates within the states. But Bible-believing pastors and churches have a unique opportunity to proclaim Biblical theology and doctrines as the foundation for every civil society. “Life” is, first and foremost, a characteristic of God. “Grace” describes His nature, and He shows us that “where sin abounded, grace did much more abound” (Romans 5:20). As noted above, God crowned humanity with glory and honor, because we are made in God’s image. So, in all the upcoming discussions, be prepared to show hurting people the goodness and holiness of the living God, our gracious and loving Creator.
