Is Steven Pinker right? Is this really the best world ever?
Steven Pinker’s book is having impact and getting reactions. It would be wise for some Christian thinkers to examine his conclusions in the light of Christian ideals. For instance, he makes the case that life-spans are longer now. But have we just prolonged the dying process or are we living better? And of course, those statistics do not count the aborted babies. The Guttmacher Institute claims that 25% of ALL PREGNANCIES world-wide end in abortion (https://www.guttmacher.org/fact-sheet/induced-abortion-worldwide). That would drop the life-span numbers significantly.
This article takes issue with Pinker from a non-Christian perspective. KS
Steven Pinker argues that the Enlightenment is the best thing that ever happened to humankind, but has he really listened to its critics?
