Church of the Holy Sepulcher site closed over Israeli tax measures

 

The heads of the three main Christian denominations that share the Church of the Holy Sepulcher — which houses shrines where Jesus is said to have been crucified and buried — announced that the site would be closed in protest of Israeli tax measures and a proposed property law.It was not immediately clear how long the closure of the church, which was announced by the heads of the Greek Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Armenian Apostolic Churches at a news conference and which began at around noon (1000 GMT), would last.
